We pushed off at 5:45 sharp. Smooth seas with a slight fog that burnt off not to far into the trip. Rounded the tip and headed south and found the flashers a couple miles down the beach. Snagged about 2 dozen closed the lid and nosed our way to the rocks. A couple of notables were in the zone. We had a fish tight within the first 15 minutes under the boat but it came unbottoned
. Saw the boat next to us dip the net twice and fill the lunch basket. thought we were going to be on it in a big way but never materialized. Got reliable info from a buddy that we need to say some prays and head south
. The chunks were cut fine. Lines let out with feisty feeders.....A couple of snifs here and there.... time ticking.... T-bone is getting a whif. Line is tight and bang he puts the crosshairs on it. He's pretty jacked up feeling some weight and working the Ugly Stik like the maestro conducting his orchestra. All finesse, patient, fluid and composed. Lines are retrieved to ensure no unneccessary hardware in the way. Net is readied and T gives me that look like.... Don't you dare miss this .... We exchange the positioning strategies to make sure we're in synch. A quick dip, a last crank and this fish made a tight fit in the net. Nice
The stink is off
T-Bone is damn near dancing, Schultz and and I are fist bumpin, pics snappin. Congratulations T on a nice fish! Must have been the Lucky Shirt
We continued to fish this area for another 1.5 hrs with a couple of legit run-offs but nothing to show for it. Will have to get 'em next time.
