Today I had the father and son team of Chris and Max out for a morning bluefish trip. The fishing has been up and down the last few days and today was no different. We would get on a nice group of fish and then it would fall right out. A move and it would start setting up like a big hit then fizzle out. Very frustrating but the anglers were great and made for a nice morning. The 2 anglers boxed 12 blues to 20" ,released 8 and had twice as many strikes. Still no white bait showing on the flats and it looks like the summer fish have already taken up residence. Most of fish have belly's loaded with small whole mussels. I have never really seen this happen in these numbers before. They are feeding on small winter flounder and grass shrimp but must be really digging to find the shrimp. A quick shot for fluke on a real bad tide produce 3 shorts. Time to hit the wrecks for few days and harass the seabass
