Luna Sea 4 report...
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:32:54 AM »
Lack of, I mean.

I have been banged up pretty bad with 2 herniated discs in my lower back which kept me out of work, but also out of commission for the past month and 1/2.  I am getting a steroid epidoral shot in my spine soon which should relieve some of my pain, so hopefully, I will be back at it very soon.

If anyone has any room or open boat for 2, let me know and I will be glad to join.  Driving the Luna Sea and fishing isn't the problem, its all that work that goes into launching, cleaning, loading, which is what will take a toll on my back.

Also, in 2 weeks I will be dock side in Toms River, fishing out of Barnegate along the beach, and visiting Tices Shole as well..  Hopefully I will see some of you south guys out there..

Nick,

I've had the epidurals in my lower and cervical spine, as well as a laminectomy in my cervical spine.  My best piece of advice for you is to keep moving.  The more you lay down, sit, stand around, etc... the worse it will get.  For me, walking on a treadmill was the ticket.  It was just enough exercise to get blood moving in the area without being too painful or taxing on the body.  The sciatica would hurt in the beginning and the tightness in my hamstring was tough, but after a while it worked itself out.  Best of luck Nick, let me know if you need anything.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.

Feel better, Nick and take it easy!

I have 2 herniated discs in my lumbar spine and degenerative disc disease in the rest of my lumbar and cervical spine.  Best thing I ever did was get in shape, work out, strengthen my back muscles, lost some extra weight and like was said, I kept active.  You just have to know your limits.

yep, same exact thing.  its driving my siatica nerve crazy.  I scheduled my appointment for next Thursday.  If all goes right, I should be back on my feet, yet still be out of work so I can catch up on some fishing.

Speedy recovery.
