Deep Water Trip on NS PB out of Brielle on Wed AM.
Left the dock around 6:30 am on board with a group of guys that I met last year who fish this boat just about every week all year long. (Nice to be retired I guess)
Killed the 2 hour ride out tying rigs, “B essing”, trying to catch some zzz’s.
Finally anchored up and fishing by 9AM. First ½ hour was nothing but pouts.
Made a move at 9:30 to another spot and anchored up by 10:30am.
Deep water, about 230 feet, with 10oz holding braid line.
It was then lock and load ling and cod for the next 3 hours.
I ended up with 19 ling, no keeper cods. High hook in my group went 36 ling and 4 keeper cod. The other 4 guys averaged 25-30 ling and 2 or 3 keeper cod.
Big ling, Cod were not huge but decent, and no junk fish the entire 3 hours.
Mates cut fish for more than the 2 hrs back and then some,
Beautiful day on the water, calm seas, no rain and sunny.
Great dinner last nite.
