Fished the Raritan Bay Anglers and Middletown Elks Tournaments today with my Bow Monkey Mike and Orlando El Balkito.
We started out fishing at 6am with 4oz and a spotty bite. Fished THAT area until around 10am then moved south to more familiar grounds. There was NO drift there so we power drifted around barely picking at 'em. Tried inshore to no avail (where the water was much cleaner).
Ended the day on some familiar ground and it was game on. The south wind got the drift going good and the bigger fish were chewing as the bucktails flew by them. Limited out on 4-6#ers until the wind got to be TOO strong. 2 knots even with the wind sock so we were letting 8oz out constantly.
Headed in around 4pm without much hope. A few phone calls and we knew we were out.
still a good day with fat sax of fillets for all....
