old mariner's poem about Caribbean hurricanes:

June- too soon.
July-- stand by!
August-- look out you must.
September-- remember.
October, all over.

All too true!
One semi-good thing: you can get cheap vacations in the Caribbean in August and September if you are willing to take the risk
