water temp services and weather
« on: August 03, 2007, 09:09:40 PM »
hi guys :)

i'm looking for feedback on who uses what service and how they like it.

also does anybody have onboard weather sattelite like the XM weather or any other services.

we are using ROFFS currently for water temp charts and have 3 free reports but before we commit i'd like to hear some feedback.

thanks!

Hi Hareball,

I use a few but Roffer's are by far the best ... period!

I also have Terrafin but will not renew next year. Not enough detail ...

Dr. Mitchell is a good guy as well!

Good luck,

Capt. Ed

thanks! thats great to hear TT^

we've called on them twice, first time a report was unavailable due to haze and the second time we called 5 hours before the trip and the report came 2 hours after we left. it was nice to have it afterwards though so we could compare our hookups to the chart.

also the company was nice enough to not use  the last repor as a free pass so we still have 3. TT^

Hi Hareball,

Unfortunately, what I have found is that you get cheap, fairly useless information (that you probably could have got anyway from the Rutgers site, for example - Terrafin) or you get high priced, valuable information and interpretations, for example Roffer's.

There does not seem to be a middle ground. You get what you pay for.

Dr. Roffer is willing to extend discounts to groups but you have to lock in before the season.

Good luck,

Ed

Hi Hareball,

If we can get others to ante in ... His plans cost a bit.

We will see,
