« on: September 13, 2011, 12:32:41 PM »
Dam thing can't find any fish!!  rgmn rgmn rgmn

On to the real problem. It still works, shows dept, temp bottom all that stuff. Screen has gray horizontal lines sometimes vertical. Whole screen is light gray but you can see color behind it. Checked cables etc no change. I think it is done. If any one has any ideas please post.

Had that issue on an old Lowrance unit on my old boat.  turned out the unit itself was shot.  Only other option is maybe check your transducer.  If you know anyone with a known, working unit of the same model then see if you can hook it up to yours to see if your issue is the wiring/transducer or your unit.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.

Take the boat out of your driveway. If it already is your unit is probably done but check your transducer cable and check the connection on the back of the screen for corrosion.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Frank,
I've seen what your describing more than once and it was the unit itself that was toast.
For your info I have a couple of Garmin 440s re-man units  at cost. They include a transom mount ducer.
Let me know if I can be of help. Shoot me an e-mail or give me a call any time.

Frank, there are some fishfinders on clearance at Dick's.  Some are very cheap right now.  Let me know what you're looking for and what price range and I can see what's available.
