1930's Boat rod and Penn reel

For antique rod & reel collectors, I have A 1930's Montaque Boat rod and what I believe to be a 1933 Penn Sea Hawk Reel For sale.  All the eyelets are intact on the rod, Which seem to be silver or nickle plated.  The reel as far as I can tell is a 1933( the first full year in production for Sea Hawk) 1932 was the same reel but stamped as a Model F .  You'll notice the nut for the handle is hex shape and the line out alarm button is dome shaped.  The handle is wooden and pulls out for free-spool.  I have not cleaned the reel as not to interfere with the original patina.  Everything seems to be operational.  The rod kind of looks like it was re-varnished at some point. Both go together Entertaining serious offers.

Thanks Paul, yes it is six sided split cane also, the Penn reel says Patent pending.  What a hoot. ;D

Funny.  As some of you know I manage a warehouse for a bamboo importer.  I just had a customer come in to the warehouse about 5 minutes ago, and the topic of bamboo rods came up.  He also has a bamboo rod by Montague.  He said that they were more of a "mass produced" bamboo rod around the 40's or 50'.

Reel nice set-up,clean. ? Anybody else know why rod has double eyelets ?

Jason, in my research, I believe Montaque was in business from 1900s or earlier till 1955.  The ones I've seen from the forties had glass eyelets.  These eyelets seem to be more primitive leaning towards the thirties. You are correct in saying that Montague was a mass produced item.  That being said, I believe the value is in the reel t^

I believe the thinking was to prevent a set or curve in the bamboo by alternating the eyelets to the topside from time to time.
