Tropical Storm Maria & Tropical Storm Nate
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:24:22 AM »
I know the last thing anyone wants to hear now is more Tropical weather.  The tropics are very active and I think they will be active throughout this month and into October and maybe even November.  There are two more named storms in the Gulf and Atlantic that need to be watched for a few reasons.

TS Maria's track is not forecasted to directly impact this area, although some of the current models today bring this storm much farther west than had been previously predicted.  This could bring Maria much closer to the east coast now.

TS Nate has formed in the Bay of Campeche off of the Yucatan Peninsula.  Initially, it was forecasted to go into Mexico, but current models have it going into the Gulf States from Louisiana to Florida.  Although, there is not any direct impact from this storm, as it travels into the States, it will most likely make its way up to the Tri State Area.  This could cause heavy rains and major flooding again!

Even if Maria does not directly impact the area, it's presence could very well influence or feed TS Nate as it moves into the area, as did Katia on TS Lee.

This is really the last thing we need to hear in this area, especially for those already flooded or evacuated because of impending flood conditions.

I will keep you posted on any major changes or updates.

Update 09/09/2011:

Good news!  I don't think these storms will affect our area or the US for that matter at all.  Both storms are weakening for right now.  TS Nate is forecasted to go into Mexico and TS Maria is forecasted to remain over water far off the East Coast.  All of the models seem to agree with this track.

Nothing new out there for the time being.  If anything changes, I will try and keep you updated.

I really don't know how much more flooding some of these areas can take. The house my gf lives in is doing ok so far but the house right next door is being condemned due to foundation collapse and also the same thing by my brothers house, houses being condemned due to structural damage from all the water. How much more...
