NJ fines for fish and game violations
« on: July 18, 2007, 07:06:01 PM »
For those who would like to know how much the fines are for illegal catch.  I know I am asked this a lot of times.

I believe this section deals with prohibited fish species such as any species that is endangered, threatened, protected etc.  Also I think it includes the states size/fish limits regulations.  If someone possessed a short fluke on board that was used for strip bait,  this is one of several tickets you would get.  So this law does not mean a fine for strip baits from sea robins, and whatever dog fish that is not threatened.

I often wondered what the fines were for taking short fish or exceeding the legal-bag limit. The fines are actually much lower than I expected.

Thanks for the info.  TT^

Rod, Brijones is correct.  The mutilated fish refers to any fish that has a size limit.
