I didn't have high hopes about this trip. I wanted to fish around 4 today but after class I had volleyball practice and I didn't get back into Bayonne until around 6:40. I thought I might not of had made it to the B&T before they closed at 7 but I did. Then home real quick to grab my rods and after a quick stop at 711 for dinner I had my line in the water at 7. Low tide was around 8:30 if I'm not mistaken so I wasn't sure how it was going to go. I thought if anything I would waste a sandworm or two and use the rest tomorrow. Then around 7:15 I caught a small striper and then another one around 7:30. Then a little before 8 I caught two fish back to back which I think are ling. Never caught one before so I'm not sure, can someone confirm this for me? Called it a night around 8:15. I had no problem staying longer but I wanted to save some worms for tomorrow. They're kinda expensive on my budget.

Possibly a spotted hake.  They're in the same family.  I caught one in the surf and thats what I came up with.

Great report and great pics as usual.  Those fish could be tommycod.  I used to catch them in the Hudson many years ago.
