The O'Brien family consisting of Billy, Bill, Michelle,and Kelly were aboard for their yearly river half day fluke trip.
Fished mostly where we did yesterday, but found a nice patch of fish in a little hole on the S side of the river.  ARea around the #5 has loads of birds, and it seems anywhere E of there is bird city, anywhere W of there there is still a good amount of fluke.

Using long leaders and live killies the group put over 30 fluke in the boat in 3.5 hours time fishing, along with 4 keepers to 19".  Great day with a great family, its always a pleasure having them on the boat!

Family fishing is always a good thing...

Love those river fluking trips. Nothing like using 1/2 Oz (or less bucktails) for the summer flatties. As you well know even those short fluke give a very spirited account for themselves on light spinning tackle. As you told me on my first river fluking expedition, sometimes they burn drag like bonefish  . When you can put 30+ fluke on the boat even with a low number of keepers, using the scaled down tackle it doesn't matter-it's what fishing is all about.

I really need to have Jason do one of those trips as I'm sure he'll get a real joy out of it.

So when are you adding magic hour river trips to your schedule?
