Pilot & Tbone - Got a few snifs 10/7
« on: October 07, 2011, 09:21:44 PM »
T-bone managed to get a little sick around noon today and met me down at the Marina for some medicine!  Calm water on the way out.  Anchored south west of Roamer light and had all the Porgies you wanted sitting tight on the mussel beds.  That lasted all of 30 minutes.  Pulled hook and motored north east on a nice groin with a couple of marks that were encouraging.    Clams crackin for a bit until I hear "Oh S&*$t!, there goes the bat"  Old lousville bobbed its way clear to the ammo pier.  Four lines in with last couple of hours of incoming.  Couple of doggies, Lionels and some flatties.   The Paulie seeker gets a shake.  Something sniffing around.   Reel tight, bang.... a fish is on and making the right moves.   Nets out and the first linesider of the fall season is put in the net with Batman doing the honors ;D  Juices are flowin and this guy is shy by an 1.5"..... back to the drink.  T-bone is working his magic and there's a swing and a miss.   Tiki gets a shakedown on glob of clam.   Fish rises quick and fins a good 40 yrds off stern  rgmn I'm suckin wind on this one.... felt like a good fish.   T-bone gets a turn.  Lines getting crossed and we're doing the four rod tango.  He's thinking he's got the blues brother... but the striper gods were smiling on us and delivered a nice 32.5" for the box.    We hung in for another 45 minutes and left shortly after the flip of the tide.   Good to get the stink off and great time to be out with a good friend.  t^
