Tom and I spent the morning up the Navesink River Northeast of the Oceanic Bridge looking for the late season crabs. We dropped anchor just at the end of the incoming tide and the crabs started hitting our baits of Bunker, chicken legs and turkey necks. Turkey neck did not work very well, maybe a little freezer burned, but the chicken and Bunker did OK. We left the area near 10:30 AM with 43 crabs with a minimum of 5"and the biggest of over 7", all males and very dark and dirty. The water was quite murky, but the crabs held on tight up to the surface. Hand lines far better than traps. Pete
