Tried using bunker instead of worms hoping to get something a little bigger but that didn't work out. Not even a nibble in 2 hours. Weather was perfect, beautiful fall day.

They are pricy, but they're hard to kill.  take one bucket with a lid, cut holes in the bottom to allow drainage and then put that buckt into another bucket to catch the drainage.  The eels go to sleep nicely and are easier to handle.  The slime and ice melt drops down in the bucket below.  Honestly I've kept eels alive for upwards of a week doing this.  If an eel so much as curls its tail, it's good to use for bait.  They wake up when they hit the water.  They're roughly $2 an eel, but they stay on the hook nicely even if you land a fish.  I hook them from under the jaw and up through the eye socket.  Hold it with a rag and get it in the water as fast as possible.
