Reel McCoy II report 11-06
« on: November 06, 2011, 04:45:06 PM »
Headed out at 6:30 AM armed with a bucket of eels.  Drifted several spots in Sandy Hook channel with only one pickup.  Tried drifting the eels on the clam beds -nada.  I then headed out to Ambrose where I did land a 32" bass.  Went back and tried the drift where I lost a fish after a short battle, dropped the eel back and the same thing happened.  This time I inspected the eel and saw the hook point was buried deep in the eels head  rgmn.  The drift was getting way too fast and I was having trouble keeping the bait on the bottom with 12oz so I went a bit north and tried drifting outside of the channel nothing doing.  Then I headed over to Breezy Point to see if I could jig something up.  Just as I arrived the Fisherman and the Flamingo were high tailing it out of there (not a good sign).  Jigged a few marks without a hit.  Back to Ambrose for one more drift on the slack and that was all she wrote.
