Fluke moving-The 70 foot depth
« on: August 27, 2007, 07:31:58 AM »
Saturday we had lots of big fluke on the boat
Brian(my son) had an 8lber.What we found was there was no bite until we got to the 60 to 70 ft depth.Fished the drop offs and structure in the deep water.
Will they move even farther out in the next week or 2?

Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

Hey SP, I'm out of Keyport...The key is to be on the edge of the channel. Not up on the flats and not right in the middle. Just make short drifts on the edge.

Hi Salty,

When we target them in the Barnegat Bay, I fish in areas near Meyers Hole with grass shrimp.

I am not sure if anyone up in your area shrimps for weakies. It is hard to get the shrimp.

In the Fall, we jig them with A47s as a bycatch when we are trying for Stripers.

Some folks up your way should be able to talk about techniques and locations up there.

Capt. Ed
