mounting a cooler on a swim platform
« on: November 20, 2011, 09:46:44 AM »

I want to mount a 175-250 qt cooler on my swim platform since i do not built in fish boxes and i would love to save save deck space.... my platform is very sturdy but should be worried about weight.... i have had 2 adult men standing on it at once but will that weight bouncing around on it underway cause a problem?  5hrug

Check the supports and hardware real good underneath. Better yet, I would through-bolt the stainless supports and the platform itself if their not already. Here is a pic of a mid 80's SeaRay platform that dropped me to the ground when I stepped on to it from the cockpit. It had lags holding it in. nosmly

It was a good drop, surprised the heck out of me, luckily just some soreness for a while. Could have been alot worse.
I myself have an 85 26 Sundancer and I refuse to put the boat in the water til I through bolt everything. I have a set of steps stuffed under the lip while its landlocked so it can't happen again. Those Amberjack's are nice. Ya can't beat the SeaRay ride.
