11/20 bass trip
« on: November 21, 2011, 01:33:47 PM »
after posting for help in helping each other out for a launch out of pt pleasant and no one responding i picked a boat launch and off we went.i guess i picked the wrong one as i bottomed out in the middle of the channel almost getting stuck in 6in of water.anyway off we went, the forecast was for 10-15 out of the w/s/w and 3ft seas.the winds were from the south and the swells were from 3-5ft.made it to seaside and could not take the beating any more.trolled our way back with unbrellas on the riggers.slow bite with 3bass and 2 blues landed from 6-10lbs.can anyone help with a ramp out of pt pleasant that i wont get stuck.

I might be in the same boat tomorrow. I am going to try the ramp at the end of Bay Avenue in PP or may take the longer truck ride to Barneget Light Public Dock.

The Bay Ave ramp is right next to the PP Canal so, if you can make it to the canal you can exit Manasquan Inlet in a matter of minutes and head right down the coast. It isn't a long ride. I have made it a few times over the last few weeks.

I have not personally used this ramp yet but, from the info I can find it isn't too bad and it's free.

When using Manasquan Inlet I use the ramp and the Manasquan River Club. It's $20 roundtrip but, it's a good ramp at any tide level.

Yep, good effort. You did catch some dinner.  t^

I don't do ramps, I slip my boat, but yesterday was not a good day at low tide anywhere. The channel in the Shark River basin was extremely low yesterday. I touched bottom several times in the middle of the channel where we normally have 2-3 feet at low tide.  :P

There's a ramp in Manasquan at Deep Creek Cove Marina. 381 Brielle Road, Manasquan, NJ. Back in GlimmerGlass. It is about a 5min ride to the inlet from this marina. Plenty of water.

I have no idea how early they open. 732-223-0400 is their phone number. Frank is the owner, great guy.

Hope this helps.

As i recall, they open at 7.  I would recommend this one as well as long as you don't have too much beam- it can be alittle hairy backing out through the marina.

Yeah, I called. They open at 7. From Google it looks pretty tight.

I am using the ramp tomorrow AM. I will post and let you know how it worked out for me. I did contact the town and they confirmed it was free, 24 hours and free on-street parking.

I used the ramp this AM. It is definitly a "fixer upper". The ramp is concrete and gravel. The main portion of the concrete ramp is broken in peices. This can cause your trailer to get hung up on it. This happened to us and required a bunch of repositioning until we were able to get on an angle for one wheel to get up and cantelever the others up onto the concrete. Also, the gravel is pretty wet. If you have a larger boat or don't have 4wd I wouldn't suggest this ramp. We pulled a guy out who was pulling out a 28' Parker. He had 2wd and had the wheels to the hub.
