Took the Luna Sea 4 and launched her at Glimmer Glass Marina so I can hit the Manasquan inlet. (Thanks Captain Jerry).
Beautiful water conditions. Got to the ramp at 6:30am. Launched by 6:45am and followed the line of boats heading out of the inlet. Once we broke the inlet, we were greeted with flat calm conditions. Took the ride South, made it to about 1 mile past the Seaside fishing Pier. The markings were incredible and it looked like guarantee hook up's, "not". Search for birds but no bird action.
Headed further South and found the parking lot. By the time we got there, the bite slowed down. We watched Fish Monger boat 2 fish then left. I looked up his live report and sure enough, he was limited up with stripers and heading to his blackfish grounds.
With a lot of work, we only managed 2 short stripers, 2 skate and i think 2 Sandshark. Uncle Luna was high hook, if not mistaken, he had everything. NjGuy and I were working hard with no production.
I am not sure how it happened, but I found Hot Rod on my first ride through the fleet. I would swear with all those boats out there, we could have been 50' close to each other and never saw each other.
Beautiful day on the water though, regardless of the outcome. We slow trolled for about half hour without a touch. Now that is boring. I hate trolling, but was desperate for the fish and at that point would try anything.
We headed back to the ramp and it was DEAD LOW... FYI, that ramp sucks at dead low and was very steep. It is not a ramp I want to use often, so next year, if the bite is down south, I will leave Luna Sea at my dock in Toms River and take the 25 minute ride to either Barnagate Light or Manasquan inlet from there.
here is a short video of our non-productive day.
