What size chrome ball do you normally use?
I have them made up from 2 oz. up to 8 oz. and use what ever I need to be able to feel bottom when I bounce it.  When lifted it must come back down, if it drifts out go to the next heavier.  I work it much the same way people work Spros.  I have found if conditions require heavier then 8 oz. it is not effective.
