8/19 Pops Soul
« on: August 19, 2007, 08:27:18 PM »
Hit the water round 9:30 fueled up the boat and netted some bait. Crew of 4 Me, Son Drew,Nephew Big Dave who came down from Wilkes Berri, and Coyote Cal. After checking with Irish Ayes to see what he had going on we made our first drift outside the in let where we had done well yesterday with a slow drift and a couple of shorts. I got a tip on a hot bite out on the east side of the Klondike, After a phone call to Capt. Joe to let him in on my tip we headed off to the Klondike. On our first drift Coyote Cal put a 24 incher on the deck. We made a few more drifts in the area along with a small pack of boats and one guy who wanted to anchor on the spot for sea bass  5hrug, there were Sea Bass there but not really a need to anchor, Oh Well, what can you say his choice, I think most of the boats out there wanted to toss a few 8 Ouncers his way. With the rain moving in and the sky growing dark we headed back closer to the inlet and made a stop on a small piece of structure that payed off. With everyone on the bite in a short drift we had flatties laying on the deck. we made another 4 or 5 drifts until we were wet to the skin. Well this GULP thing is starting to change my mind, but just to break Coyote Cals Stones I brought along some YUM crayfish and put that on my hook and yes I caught fish on it along with a strip of Squid. Total for the day 8 keepers in the box the biggest was the 24 incher caught by Coyote Cal on a chrome ball and Gulp combo. So I guess I'm off to get some of this GULP to finish out the season with. TT^

Good catch Skip.  It's great when you can put the crew onto some nice fish.  t^
I started making my way down to where you were but never made it there.  I finally found some fish off of Ocean Grove and stayed there till 4.  Headed in and found a drizzle at the dock.  Didn't get into a soaking rain till on the way home.

What did all you guys buy up all the chartreuse grub gulp bait?  Can't find any locally and I refuse to pay over 7 dollars a bag.
