Anyone know how to install electronics?
« on: March 01, 2012, 07:22:45 AM »
Does anyone know how to install electronics? I have a Garmin 740s new in the box I bought that I would like installed flush mount, and a Icom VHF radio flush mount installed as well. I would like them wired together for distress calling. The marina wants a ton of $$ to install. If you can't, can you recommend someone that can install them (professionally)? Thank You. It would be on a 23foot Sea Hunt Center Console. There is a vhf on there now , I would need removed, but no GPS is on there. 5hrug

Phil,

I'm a dumdum when it comes to this stuff, but I was able to figure it out.  The hardest part is snaking wires, but honestly it's not as hard as you might think.  I bet you can do it if you give it a shot, and you'll get to know what's going on behind your helm.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.

I'd agree it's pretty easy if you can take your time and read up on it. If not, they all say Matt is the man....
