Pell's Fishing Reports - August 18, 2007
« on: August 18, 2007, 06:58:40 PM »
Hi All,

Fluking has been at its best for boaters north of the Manasquan Inlet in 10-50 ft. of water in the Asbury Park to Shrewsbury Rocks stretch of Monmouth County. For those looking to stay closer to the Manasquan Inlet, south of the inlet from the "Old Thunderbird" to the Seaside Lumps have been fair. The Sea Girt Reef has been good for larger Fluke and Sea Bass.

Surf fisherman have been having a ball with cocktail size Bluefish and Fluke right in the wash. There was a major Bluefish blitz just north of the "Pocket" in IBSP most of Saturday, 8/18/2007. Mullet rigs and small metals have been the ticket to success.

In the bays and rivers, anglers are having a great time catching Snappers and Weakfish. The Snappers are being caught best in the day with sprearing or small metals. The Weakfish have been primarily caught with sandworms at dawn and dusk. Those wishing to try their hand with artificials, Fin-S, Rattletraps, Chartreuse Shads and Bucktails tipped with Gulp! are worth experimenting with.

Tuna reports from the canyons are encouraging. The Alino Brothers boated 3 Yellowfin Tuna along with some Mahi and Triggerfish. Chunking butterfish or sardines has been the bait of choice.

Until next week, good catching!

Tommy

It figures when I can't go out there is a blitz.

We are doing work inside the house and right now we are painting the kitchen cabinets.  Today we picked out the granite counter tops.  If you need someone I have a guy, Chris Cooper who does kitchens and is superb.  He is also a surf pounder and spends a lot of time down by the pocket on IBSP.

I am going to plead with the wife to get out at least for a couple of hours tomorrow.  Wish me luck.

Happy Catching

Paul
