Reel McCoy Saturday 4/14 report
« on: April 14, 2012, 08:24:45 PM »
Decided to try the back bay today armed with a 1/2 bushel of clams and some trolling gear.  Trolled the area around 10 and 11A for a few hours landing a short (27") on a green Stretch after a few knockdowns.  Then I set up on some marks inshore of 11a for the last 2 hours of outgoing, nothing but a couple of run-offs.  Back on the troll until the tide started running again when I decided to use up the last of the clams just west of 19.  Landed another 27" short and then nothing.  Pulled anchor and put out a #3 Maja spoon and worked the edge of the Reach for a slow ride home.  I hooked up and fought the fish until I dropped him boatside, so I went back and repeated the same scenario 3 more times.  I have tired arms and nothing to show for it.  I was fishing by myself and I was taking the boat out of gear fighting the fish, a no-no I am told when trolling spoons.  All in all it still was a great day to be on the water.

atleats there was action
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
