MI 5/17
« on: May 17, 2012, 02:12:48 PM »
Livelining bite north of the inlet was fairly slow this morning.  We did  scratch out afew nice fish and dropped afew more in the early going, but as the morning wore on the bite pretty much evaporated.  The biggest fish, the one we kept, went 39".  Definitely could've put a few more in the boat early on, but hey we still came home with dinner and then some!

like everyone said...you caught!

Question: I seen some posts here that you guys are on the bunker but getting only a few. I know it has not blown wide open yet BUT in the early morning when the bite seems to be slow or off do you add a weight to your line and drop a live bunker below the edge of the pod? If not, try it.  ;)

TJ, I don't generally add weight to the live bunker until the sun gets real high or we move into the deeper water to get away from the traffic.  However, I have been known to utilize the maligned "snag and drop" on occasion, usually before I get my first keeper of the day.  The weight of the snag hook often takes the bait down to where the bass are, usually with great success.  So, I definitely see what you mean...
