Thursday Night report
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:30:05 AM »
Ran out after work to the spot we fished the day before.
made some fast bait and lines in. Two fast run offs and both let go...ok made some adjustments and moves and it was game on. Plenty of pods and boxed two nice Bass in the high twenties for the table and  released another male fish. INTERESTING fact: under the birds we took NO fish, but  way OFF the pods were the fish.Only six boats working the area, some appeared to be into fish. Two drifts resulted in two keeper fluke just before we headed for home.Water was clear and top temp at 62-64*
Good Luck. t^

Good going...  As far as the bass being off the pod I bet if you were to figure out which way the pod was swimming you would find that the bass were in fact to the rear of the pod as it swims away.  Reason: Bass are a lazy fish for the most part and are picking up the scraps that other fish, blues and younger bass are dropping behind.

It takes time for the scraps to reach their depth so that is the reason for them to be lagging behind.  This even happens off the surf.  A lot of guys will plug the bait pod and pick up shorts if anything.  Wait till the bait ball moves on a bit and than try the heavy casts with bottom baits or lures.

Happy Catching
