Reel McCoy II Sunday 6/3 Report
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:44:43 PM »
Had a friend from work out today to try for some fluke. Tried the Knoll but the conditions were not optimal to say the least so I headed down the beach and started to drift by the nude beach.  In a few minutes Kevin had his first fluke in the boat, a 15" short.  After releasing the fish he re-baited and within minutes he hooked into a large fish that had the drag on his light spinner screaming.  He played give and take with the fish for about 15 mins.  Had it on top a few times where we saw it was a large bass.  Unfortunately for us the fish made a run under the boat and broke off.  A few more drifts produced nothing so we moved inside and fished east of Earle where I landed an 18" keeper.  Moved to the Navesink to get out of the wind but we only had one more 15.5" short. I am still rocking as I am typing this report but it still beats being on land.

Great effort. The weather hasn't been all that good for optimal fluking.

good report. that must of been fun, the bass on the lite outfit. I landed one last year at the reef, bucktailing fluke with a lite outfit, lots of fun. does someone have a reason for the poor fluking.
