made a later than usual start at 8 and headed straight to the barnegat reef.
first drift nailed a 24" and a 19.5" fluke by the ladies on board. thought we found a pot of gold, but no such luck. they must have been on the move, and tried to find them again the rest of the day.
wind died down to dead calm and made tough fishing. bumped the motor a bit for a couple more shorts. stopped over a nice piece of structure and bailed the seabass.
wound up throwing another dozen or so short fluke back for another day, 2 keeper seabass, and tons of those little bass thrown back as well.
hot bait was chartreuse gulp with a squid strip. second up was plain old salted clam, which even got a couple fluke too,,, they must have been hungry.
