Teasers:
« on: June 19, 2012, 04:29:28 PM »
I always use teasers when fishing for fluke with a buck tail wether it's off a boat or surf.. Does anyone use teasers when fishing with metals, swimmer, jigs, ext. when fishing for stripers?  :headscra:

Use em in front of just about anything for fall  bass...  Teasers in front of diamond jigs, stingo jigs, things of that nature was the winning combo last year, both boat and surf.

Yes I do  ;D All kinds hair, gulp, soft platic are my 3 favorites. They all work too ,chartreuse, white, black, yellow and combinations of any and all.Red gills or imitations in the fall for bass. Custom made bucktail or synthetic hair for fluke and bass are my favorites. Put on a deadly dick metal of 2oz and this is a killer combo from the beach for me  ;D

Usually, I run my leader line about 4ft. or so and use a dropper loop when fishing off the boat should I do the same for surf?

WOW that seems short from what I'm doing off the boat.. So if the leader is 20" max how far up should the leader be?

Oh TBJ do you know Justin IM..??

I agree with TBJ on the leader length away from the lure itself.

AVA's and what ever color is working that day.  The color will change from day to day so make sure if a color you like is the same color the fish like...

I'm thinking the leader length should be more than 18-20". It's the distance from the lure to the teaser (on a dropoff) that should be 18-20". Another 6-12" from the teaser to the mainline.  t^

Always use a teaser!  They usually produce more than the actual lure.

you could always buy a pre made teaser set up from a tackle shop to get a rough estimate of whats going on  t^

Mine usually go something like this.....
Spro swivel on the end of the braid, tie the leader to the swivel, 6-9 inched down from there a dropper loop with the teaser, and finally 18-24 inches below the teaser is a swivel/fast clip for the lure.
Hope that makes sense.

yes I know Justin.

for the surf I use a leader length
of 18 to 20". what i mean is from the swivel or my uni knot to the lure with a teaser about 4" from swivel/uni knot. meaning the whole leader length including your teaser being no more than 18 to 20".

Wow I use much longer leaders. Usually swivel on a dropper. Teaser side 9-12" and plug side 40-48"
