Sandy Hook Flukin (6/24)
« on: June 24, 2012, 10:08:57 PM »
Put in at leonardo at 9 back to the dock dock by 4.  had my uncle and 8yo with me today. Only thing placed in the cooler was a small blue...but he was good eating tonight, although I only got a small sampling cause the son devoured the rest.

Had good enough action with 15 or so shorts, two robins and the blue. my uncle and son were fishing the tried and true killy/squid combo and they were catching the majority of the shorts.  I was utilizing whole squid, gulp, and/or bucktails with only 2-3 shorts and the two sea robins to show for it. fished the top of the navy pier, #1 bouy, over by the CG station, and back to the north side of the navy pier for a few last drifts. Beautiful day on the water and a great time had.

at one point at one of the drifts by the pier we got 3-4 shorts in the matter of minutes, the fluke were literally grabbing the bait as it just hit bottom or right before.  couldn't bait fast enough.  I even got a nice size sea robin on a gulp shrimp teaser.  of course on the same drift a second time about ten-15 min later nothing. :headscra:

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
