head to LBi for vaca....
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:32:38 PM »
In about two weeks we are heading down to LBI for the family vacation.  I will be towing down my little 14' v-hull with my 20 horse yami on it.  I'll be staying in surf city. As for crabbing not a problem, i just hit some of the marshed areas around the causeway and seem to do okay.  However, my question is where to go for fluke?  I'm not looking for specific gps locations but a general idea of what boat ramp to use and a general idea of where to start.  by old barney or south near fantasy island?  any help would be appreciated.

thx  dJ

cant help you with ramps, but spots would be double creek, oyster creek, back straight away across from light house, bb bouy , the inlet if calm, and down the little shoot off double creek that runs behind the island back towards lbi, dont know the name of it. go around the point going into double creek, and it will split, right is double creek, left is a small waterway with some nice spots, beware it is narrow though.

just look for the fleet inside, shouldn't be to hard to spot.

Surf City - Division Street. Free for taxpayers of Surf City. Season Pass, $35; daily, $15. 8am-5pm
Ship Bottom - 10th Street Season Pass, $50; daily, $10; one-way, $10. 7am-7pm
Beach Haven - Taylor Ave. Season pass, $60; weekly, $30; daily, $10.

There's a nice public ramp in Barenegat Light on Bayview Ave. Very short ride to Meyers Hole. Perfect area for a 14'er.
