Had my brother and my 11yr old nephew (my sisters youngest) out for a day of fluke/sea bass fishing. We met at the boat at 6:30 loaded the gear and off to the Mud Buoy area. On the way we were treated to a dolphin show seeing dozens of them cavorting just east of the SH channel. Got to the grounds and handed Michael the rod rigged with a bucktail/teaser. Showed him how to bounce it on the bottom, bang fish on, he brings in his first fish a 13.5" CB. I released it saying we were looking for larger fish and it a long day. Well it was about an hour before we put another keeper in the boat an 19" fluke brought in by my brother. Michael picked away at short CBs and my brother and I had a few short fluke. I put a nice CB in the boat and we decided to take a break, have something to eat and take a ride to cool down. I switched their rigs to CB rigs and broke out the clams, gave Mike a quick lesson and then he put on a clinic. He caught about 20 CBs putting 6 of our 8 keepers in the box. Fog started to move in so we made a move to Scotland and got a few more shorts and called it a day for fishing. Went to the cove at the tip of the hook threw the hook, cooled off in the water and had lunch.
Here is a picture of a new fisherman and two of the keepers he had today:
