Sandy hook area help!
« on: July 08, 2012, 09:24:52 PM »
Hope everyone is surviving through this heat. I just got back from Baltimore and wow was it hot!!! rgmn
I'm taking a few guys out fishing towards the end of the week and I am trying to decide where to head. Is it worth it to shoot out to the shrewsbury rocks or should I stick around the hook? I will be out for fluke and anything else that has been doing great lately.
Thanks guys and happy fishing! chrz

We went out yesterday try the tip of the hook area.Had a ton of action.some nice sized keepers. Isay try around there first before you make the run down the beach!

Killies and squid did the trick.Had a gulp on for a while first time. after a few i took it off. Still not a fan yet! Instead of running down the beach try the hook tip first either way you have to go by it...We had alot of action yesterday with many different fish! Good luck bro. Full fish holds and a safe voyage to you!

Have had a lot of success bucktailing on the AH side of the ammo pier in 20ft of water right along the security zone markers.

I will say that I have had lots and lots of luck on the other side of the bay.  clp Ammo pier has always been a fav of mine to fish for sure, but where I lauch from Sea Warren, there are a few channels right off of the river, and then the SI side that I recently caught 2 sweet fish over 5lb and 7lbs thanks to a freind of mine!!!!! ( will post that report with photos soon) Spearing and squid and/or belly has been my choice bait thus far. I am a gulp girl too but my last few recent trips I have used nothing fancy, just a straight up simple rig. The gama hooks, 4/0 are sweet too!! Tight lines and good luck!!!!    slt slt
