Spent the day at the tip on a skiff making the 7 mile hike with high hopes after being told Oceanic bridge/inside is quiet. Fast drifts with east wind.
Was all set up to get with the times geared with bucktail w/stinger & teaser and $10 gulp as researched
killie/squid used by my old school uncle on a single hook.
First drift yields me a monster hit and up come 2x sea robins and SNAP goes the set-up
last years frayed line for the loss here as my haste to get going made for sloppy set.
All shorts and large robins rest of the day. But best bait was free as a single robin strip landed 5 shorts before being changed.
Alot of boats for a weekday. Cant imagine what weekends are like.
I net what ends up being a 17" and before i put the net down there were 2 boats screaming up beside us as if we had landed a Kardashian mermaid.
