Ran Open Boat on Sat 7/7...left dock early and headed to the hard stuff to the south. Fast drift to start...picked some Sea Biscuits to start. As the tide started slowing and the wind crapped out i made a few shuffles to some shallower water, boxing 3 nice fluke to 4 lbs and a few more biscuits. Ran north to the channels to find some current. Had some more short action there. Stopped at the Bug light and put another keeper in the box before calling it a day. The guys hung in there today even tho it was a ton of short fluke and sea bass.
Ran a charter today and left at 5 am. Headed back to the same area as yesterday and 1st drift had a nice 5lb fluke over the rail and in the pail. Couple more keepers and a few Biscuits to keep the big fluke company. Wind died out so i headed further offshore. Spent the next 3 hours drifting, picking through the shorts for 9 keeper fluke and 13 keeper Sea Bass. Dropped a few could be keeps at the boat on the final out of water head shakes tho.
At the first drop, i came across a HUGE mark on the finder down 20 ft....one of the guys was dropping down a bucktail at the same time and the line starts screaming off....after about a minute, POP....bucktail gone but still had teaser hook....thinkin it was mr Thresher eatin the bucktail as he dropped it down....oh well!
