hard day fluking 8/29
« on: August 29, 2007, 07:35:59 PM »
Left the dock with five aboard.  Hit nine different spots through out the day. Hit several spots twice.  Could only find four keeper fluke and two keeper seabass.

AM-no wind, no drift.  Floated over the Ferry boat wreck hoping to cash in on some nice seabass.  Not to be.  Caught some short sea bass and short fluke.  No keepers.

Tried several more areas and bombed out.

PM-wind picked up.  Went from using 2-3 ounces to 8 ounces in a half hour time.  Started picking at the fluke with most of them shorts.  Biggest fish today was 19".  Two keepers just over the 17" mark and one 18 incher.  Picked up two keeper seabass drifting a lump off of Asbury.

Alright Jo, you did a lot better than me.  Spent most of the day catching skates and robins and several short fluke.  I also tried for the Sea Bass on a rock pile and a scattered wreck and only ended up with shorts.  Best fluke of the day was 16 3/4 inch.  Tried in the fleet on the north end of the reef and that was dead as well.

Hi Dave, If this water cleans up, things will improve.
Until then, I will keep trying.  t^

Yeah, I hear ya Skip.  I kept trying spots.  Going back to several I tried earlier.  I thought for sure we'd get into some nice fish when the wind picked up in the PM, but, that was not meant to be today.  Oh well, next time.   t^

Gotta take the good with the bad??

Hey beats sitting at wanting to go!

Plus I think the winds changing every day and full moon isn't helping!
