Tragedy strikes Long Branch again
« on: July 18, 2012, 04:12:39 PM »
rgmn Just heard on NJ news that the little boy digging a tunnel on the beach has Died . from what I saw it was a huge hole in the sand most from the rescue, And just feet from that hole is a Life guard stand. and yes hind site is better then being blind to what was going on just feet from the stand. Should the guards have stopped the boy from digging such a dangerous hole.?  where were the Parents ? I saw just that going on at the Ocean Grove beach and put my 2 cents in and the mothers of the group put a end to it, they were chit chanting and did not notice. There is a God - GD - and that little boy is now with him. my prayers go with him.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Another sad tale is the finger pointing will now start, The APP has the hint of some to come in today's paper. With a statement that 4 Life Guards were siting in a circle just feet form the tragic accident. That took almost 10 min to rescue the boy.  and that there are no ordnance against digging on the beaches. I say there was no Commonsense either.

It wasnt a hole he dug a tunnel, while crawling through it it collapsed on him, the boy was alive when they got to him and he later died in the icu

There should be an ordanace against digging holes on the beach ! I was in seaside heights that day and kids like to dig holes fine, but all too many times I have seen when the family of that child that dug a hole large enough for someone else to step into and get hurt, just pack up their belonging and walk off the beach without filling in the hole that their child has dug. I know when my children were little and we went to the beach I always filled in whatever hole was made by my children.  Just my 2 cents.

Well of course the hole then the tunnel silly im just saying it takes longer to biild a tunnel so someone should have stopped him. Also watch your kids in the snow it seems harmless but snow tunnels collapse and kill alot of kids each year

>:( >:( No matter what, parents aunts uncles who ever is with the children need to be responsible and watch them NO MATTER WHAT. To answer the ? do I have children of my own, no, not yet. However that doesnt mean I have never been with them. I have taken my brothers and sisters kids and my friends kids to the beach on my boat even with out them there and never ONCE let my eyes off them. The thought of something happening to a child one so innocent makes me sick.... I will leave it alone now....again my two cents...and again have we forgotten the FIREMAN WHO HIT THE FATHER WITH HIS NEWBORN...  fcp fcp

Mrs. Fish no one could of said it better
( Responsibility, and common sense ) is something many parents are lacking today. When i am on the beach in Ocean Grove I see mothers in groups chatting while their kids play just out of site or even in the water I guess they feel the Lifeguards are baby sitting for them.
BUT then I see what must be the grand parents baby sitting for the day  holding the kids hand down to the water and never taking their eye off of them even on the sand under the umbrellas fusing over them. It must be a generation Gap. And remember one of the things that can never be fixed is as Geo.Carlin once said you can not fix Stupid. and common sense is a learned thing not inherited. I as I am sure you not only watch closely your own but others at the beach. its Natural to watch over others, God Bless. Bill

I did not want to put this in the same post. But The Mayor of Long branch has said Quote the lifeguards can not watch every thing. the ocean is their job, They can not be looking behind them self's  all the time with all that is going on in front of them. smk when the Head of the National lifeguard  association said the beach around them as well as the ocean are their irresponsibility.  t^ clp Guess the mayor is protecting his But  with a statement like that,  smk Where should the blame be placed or can it be avoided in the future. who's to watch you at all times. 5hrug
