Chris Cooch and I got a late start, so we stayed local again. Off around 7 to cool and overcast with flat bay.
We had nothing but fluke, no bycatch other than a couple clamshells here and there. The area near the 20 was holding some justshorts that we returned. Had fish on just about every drift.
Moved over to a deeper scour and Cooch put one in the box. Sun came out and hot and steamy. Short drifted that area a few times with fish each time. They were hitting the bait rod and the bucktail equally well, with squid winning out over spearing. Yellow Gulp! 6" minnows were not deterring the bite at all either. But no large fish. Then none at all.
We moved a little shallower for a couple drifts and headed in for 10:30. OK maybe it was 11. Nice day, thanks Chris!
