Lost Steering Part 2
« on: August 06, 2012, 07:03:59 AM »
Thought I fixed the steering problem after adding Fluid but again it starts loosening up and we add fluid just before we go through The SharkRiver Inlet.  No visual leeks anywhere so we bleed the air out of the system and there appears to be alot.
Hope that does it

are you filling through the wheel or in the back?
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Your helm pump may be leaking. Can you see behind the wheel? The fluid has to be going somewhere.  5hrug

If air is gettin in, there is definitely fluid leaking out, trust me. Check the end caps on the cylinder. Run your fingers or a white rag right around the bottom. Look in the splashwell for any drips. If there is bulkhead fittings check'em. If there is copper tubing for your lines, check those too. What size boat? Lines might be joined or lengthened where you can't see it. Possibly rubbed through on exposed/rough surface. Possibilities are endless. Check them all. And as mentioned, the back of the helm.
