Like MBoy said, try the system reset before you go and replace the sounder.

Ok so you cant change it without taking the backing screws off! but i didnt really notice much difference  about the same thing... my depth still would flash out... i give up think i just buy new gps/sounder next year i guess since i have to  pull it to install it.

Hi Salty,

When you pull the boat, please email a picture of where the transducer is mounted.

Also, did you do a Master Reset to restore all the factory defaults?corrosion is on the pins ... reseating the transducer cable is a good idea anyway (something easy that can cause problems).

One other thing ... did you unplug all the connections to see if any

Thanks,

Ed

There is a lil green on the pin connectors that  plugs into the back of te unit. but if i can still see the bottom  would that cause my depth to flash and lose the reading>?
I can still see the bottom  but the #'s just go haywire. I did a reset of the master also  now my  digital compass dont work LOL dont matter didnt use it anyways. its on the right side facing the rear of the boat.

Thinking of getting new garmin and just plugging it in my luck it wont work!

Hi Salty,

I had a problem a few years back with a lose connection. I lost the bottom as well. That is why I bring it up.

Losing th compass after reset ... that sounds weird.

One thing I did not ask but should have.

It is working while drifting ... and then you lose the bottom and the depth blinks ... Is that correct?

I hope changing the head end works for you ... before you throw it away, I would send it back to Garmin for repair. See what they say ...

Thanks,

Ed
