After a day of rain and thunder and lightning spoiled any thought of fishing the Raritan bay I went to to marina to check the boat. The peanut bunker were everywhere so I wanted to practice throwing the smaller castnet. The net produced a bunch of peanuts. Jersey Joe and Cashin dropped by to say hello and the weather cleared up on the radar so we decided to take a quick trip and stay local in case the lightning made a comeback. I passed the sailboats in Keyport at 6pm to find a flat bay and clearing sky. High tide was coming at 8 pm and the lack of wind made drift conditions bad. We tried a few spots with no results and even livelined adult Bunker that wew jumping all over the bay. So no fish for us, not even a nibble. We did catch Bunker though ;D

Thats what I miss about being in the slip! Just being able to jump in and run. The whole trailer thing is just a headache for a quick trip. At least you got some time on the water with some friends! chrz

I left my phone home, we did not get down there till 6:30ish.

same results, as you; we tried drifting and trolling

It was sure nice out there except for the catching

Sorry Warren, I switched over to vhf 65 to call someone and forgot to go back to VHF 68.

looks like we have to go south and deep for awhile. The Raritans too slow this week  slt

I hit the ambrose & 11a and did pretty good...fish every cast, with only one keeper at 20+ and a ton of shorts! Good luck!!! See you guys out there!!!  slt
