New guy here moving in from Fl.
« on: August 23, 2012, 01:48:13 PM »
Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I'm a Florida native moving to Hazlet. Like most of you, If I'm not fishing I'm usually reading about it, watching some fishing show or youtube video, or on line drooling over some rad piece of gear.(and trying to figure out how to buy it without my wife finding out). I fish from a revolution- mostly the ICW and it's creeks and cuts in St. Augustine. More recently while staying with the in-laws I have had the opportunity to fish some bays in Delaware. Very different from Fl- to say the least. I've gotten lucky and landed a decent amount of flounder and a couple of short stripers. The stripers were a complete surprise because I was fluking...but hey- not complaining- just would like to know what I was doing right. Or wrong for fluking for that matter. From what I understand New Jersey fishing is outstanding. I'm seriously stoked to learn the fishery and meet some fellow kayak fishing fanatics. Tight lines everyone. Andy

There are some great places to fish and species to target around here, but yes, much different then Fla.

Look forward to your reports when you get settled and hit the ocal waters.

wa raritan bay should be fairly easy to learn, not really any "secrets" to fishing the area. Fluking around the smaller channels leading into the creeks and marinas should produce for you right away until they make their move offshore in the fall.

Welcome Aboard.  Try kayaking around Belford as it is easy to launch and that area off the pier is pretty hot around sunup and sundown.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
