Ethanol and fuel lines
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:05:57 AM »
This week was small motor troubles and the culprit was bad gas and deteriorated fuel lines. QuickSilver "gray" to be exact. This is the fuel line primer bulb assembly used on many of the portable motors and 6 gal tanks but also can be used on bigger hp motors as well. The inside liner is breaking down and causing havoc on all the related components.
Also had a Suzuki 4 stroke fuel line do this as well. This was an engine mounted hose.

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

No fuel treatment will stop rubber/plastic breakdown. Inspection/replacement is the way to go.

This is common all season long. Kinda odd was I had 2 Proline 201 w/a both within a week of each other. One with a alum tank and one plastic. One uses fuel treatment always the other once in a while. Both with a few gallons of c%#p on the bottom that over filled the separator and fed the carbs. Luckily they were carbed motors.
