First week of Fall.  The air is becoming crisp and the leaves are changing.  This week should be mostly dry with a chance of showers Wednesday and Wednesday Night.  Highs will be in the upper 60’s and 70’s with lows in the 40’s and 50’s.  Humidity will be lower this week.  We are approaching the season, where marine weather is constantly changing, even more than normal.  Water conditions are rated good for all locations, except for Wednesday in southern locations and midshore to offshore.  Gusty winds around 20 knots will start Tuesday and prevail into Wednesday with the passing front.  Seas could build to 5 feet Tuesday into Wednesday with a chance of Small Craft Advisories.  Surf will continue to be high/rough with moderate rip currents with waves 2-4 feet on Monday and 2-3 feet on Tuesday Morning.  Waves will begin to subside Tuesday Afternoon and should remain 1-3 feet for the rest of the week.

High pressure building in from the east will move into the region on Monday before moving offshore.  A cold front will approach our area on Wednesday afternoon and then cross the area Wednesday Night.  High pressure will them build in from the Great Lakes Region for the end of the week.

Re: Wednesday Update
« Reply #1 on: September 26, 2012, 12:24:37 PM »
I want to update some significant changes to the week forecast.

Currently there is a Small Craft Advisory in Effect through tonight from Sandy Hook, NJ to Fenwick Island, DE including New York Harbor, Raritan Bay and Delaware Bay.

Rain chances have increased this week from just tonight to chances of rain for the rest of the week through the weekend.  The cold front that is approaching the area today and that was supposed to move out by tomorrow, has slowed down and will eventually stall over the area.  It will allow a low pressure system to develop over the area later in the week and into the weekend before moving out.  This increases our chance of rain and even a thunderstorm.  Anywhere from 30% chance today to 60% chance on Friday.  However, water conditions and winds should remain good over the entire area for all locations.  After the winds subside today and seas lay down, the rest of the week should look good.

I will update the weekend tomorrow, however it looks like a good chance of rain.
