Backwaters mixed bag Sep 2012
« on: September 26, 2012, 10:57:42 PM »
The wife and I have been hitting the local waters of the bay for the past couple weeks.  We've had fish of some species every trip out.  All trips have started before sunset and we fished into the dark, mostly from docks.
We've had quite the mixed bag of fish.  Small stripers, sea bass, spot, one huge croaker, shad, a 2ft eel, blow fish and our first kingfish.  Everything has been on clam or Fishbites bloodworms.
Becky has really been on fire this season.  With my limitations I've been sticking mostly to bait boy.  Most of what we've caught has been her, with a few of the small stuff being mine.  She's quite happy with the success she's been having and the variety of species. With the exception of the stripers, all the species listed above were firsts for here.
We're looking forward to the all run getting into full swing.  Hopefully she can put a few good bass on the sand.

Oh....everything is still swimming with the exception of a couple spot (bait) and the 2 kingfish, which got smoked.

Great reports Chris. Backwaters are like an aquarium this time of year. Just wait until they all get pushed out.  TT^

I have no interest in hooking into anything large this year.  It won't be worth the pain.
I'm just happy she's been doing so weel and enjoying it.   t^

Sounds like a team made of Love of each other and the sport of fishing. SUN UP TO SUN DOWN hell I was in my teens and 20s when that happened. Now its SUN or SUN DOWN. My wife SUN only, she had her chair and a book. never took to fishing, what bay and beach do you fish in General. Bill

Back at it again last night with another successfull trip.  She had 3 bass, a couple snappers and spot.  All on clam under a bright full moon.

We pretty much fish northern Ocean Co from the BI to the MI.  Focusing on the bay now, but we'll start trying out front in another week or so.

Yup.  Super bright.  And it had a nice red glow early in the night.
Full moon had BIG crabs on the chew.  We snagged a 7in jimmy at one point.  They were on the bait before the sinker hit bottom.  probably would have had more fish if the crabs weren't attacking the bait so much.
