Gulping for Fluke

i tried the shrimp and the sand eel, but the mullet work better.  The swimming action of the tail helps.  I used to fish with the mr. twisters with success, and with the swimming mullet, its the same thing with an attractant.

 I have tried just about ever flavor and color. More hits and more aggressive hits on the precut bait, pink shrimp.  This is the one they followed to the surface. I had a strip of squid on with it.
Dont know if that had anything to do with it or not.

I think fluke really need to see the fluttering action of either a strip bait, a plastic grup, or a swimming mullet.  So if I'm using something like a Gulp shrimp or sand eel or a dead natural bait fish like a spearing, I make sure a use a strip of squid, makerel, bluefish.  Because the Gulp swimming mullet has that fluttering tail, the strip bait isn't necessary.

I find the swimming mullets are great, but if there are little sea bass or snappers in the area they nip the curly tail right off, and that's the end of that. I like a hi/low with a jerk shad and a new penny shrimp. Killer! Have tried either one hi and the top always seems to outfish the low.

BTW, I'm new to this forum, look forward to talking with y'all. I fish mainly from my yak around the AC area.

That's the wonder of Gulp. Bucktail, jighead, fishfinder, fluke rig, dropper loop, they all work. Just wish they were a little cheaper. I cring every time a blue chops one in half.

I hear that DAK...the downfalls to fishing with the Atlantic Pirahnas.  As bad as bass fishing and getting my line cut by a pickerel!!

I tend to keep a heavier leader or wire leader on when salt and freshwater fishing with those 2 species around!!  It seems to work, or maybe I am just being cheap?!?!
