Barnegat Bay 10/21
« on: October 23, 2012, 08:46:59 AM »
Evening trip last night to a spot that had produced well for us a few weeks ago.  Other spots we've been trying lately haven't been very productive.
SW wind @10mph, top of the outgoing tide and started about an hour after dark.  All clams on hi-lo rigs, no plugging tonight.
In a little over 2 hours we had 2 dink bass around 12in.  Saw someone else get one on a teaser.
At least we didn't get the skunko.  But much slower then it's been.
Crabs are still very much present and feeding  ::)

About an hour in, no action, no signs of life....Becky asks "where are the fish?"  Not 10 seconds later I hookup with the first fish.   ;D  It's like they were saying "here we are!"

Like Kayak1 had mentioned last week, there's a lot of young bass hanging around the area.  In the past month or so we've have a bunch in the 12-18in range.  Hopefully they all find the right conditions to grow big and strong.

With all the talk of dink Bass it must of been a good spawning class. The upper Raritan is loaded from Amboy up and The upper Big (D) is having a good year also. Plus I think adherence to Game laws and catch and release are all playing a part.
