Motor won't start

Been dealing with a fuel problem all year now I have a hpdi Yamaha and I have a small fuel tank hooked up and I have fuel in the float bowl but I barely have fuel in the vst tank.  Would I be able to blow some compressed air into the line ?  Any suggestions would help.  This is my last resort before I put my 16ft aluminum boat in and tow it to the ramp.

When you pump the primer ball does it fill the VST?  It should.  If it DOES and your still finding the VST is not filling after it runs then change out tthe low pressure pumps.  Not sure what horsepower you have but mine has 2 (mine is a 200 hp).  They're inexpensive and easy to change.

Sounds like you have a restriction for sure.  Are you sure the primer bulb is functioning?  I know that's probably a silly question ,just covering all bases.  If you pull off the hoses up to the VST I'm sure you could blow compressed air through.  I would check their condition and consider replacing.  If something big enough to clog the line came loose, it may be the lines themselves degrading from ethanol.

Is the tank a portable or fixed tank. If its a fixed tank take a look at the check ball at the fitting that connects to the tank the fitting is brass and the ball is stainless so with those two and the introduction of alchohol, gas, water there can be some electrolosis on the ball causing a fuel restriction.

Check for air leaks in all the lines up to the VST.  The good part is you have it isolated since fuel isn't getting to the VST.  The bad part is for as much as the 200 HPDI is a battletank, it has a ton of quirks and filters that will leave you nuts sometimes trying to figure out what's wrong with it when you do run into a problem.

grtn I dont know if this will be helpful or not, but I honeslty do try to if I can. While working on "FISH" I asked the guys on here for help too which is priceless; and found this link that you might be able to read up on your engine and see if there is a trouble shooting guide for yours. There is a filter/fuel water separator on the Port side of the engine that is before the VST.  That filter is notorious for clogging and needing to be changed.  Make sure you also purchase the plastic bowl as well, they swell up and are near impossible to put back on after removal.  I'm betting since you mentioned you had bad fuel, that filter is full of water and is blocking passage through.  With an HPDI once you have a known bad fuel situation you should really change all filters.

Change them all, then try to fill the VST with a primer ball off the portable tank.

They do.  They are tiny 2 micron filters inside each injector.  Contrary to what some people have said, you will find very few people who have issues with these filters, so long as you maintain the 4 others before them (including your Racor between the tank and the engine).

Exactly.  The 200 HPDI might be the single most bulletproof outboard ever made.......IF you maintain the filters.  But honestly the filters are fairly inexpensive (we're talking about b.o.a.t.s here)and easy to maintain.

Thanks for the info. I changed all filters and Even in the vst tank itself. There is a small brown filter and a fuel assembly between the bowl and the vst tank so I want to push some air thru. Replacing both are under a hundred bucks but I just need it fixed so I can take it home
